win|RTA and Windows 7, 8, & 10

With the release of win|RTA V2.1, Windows 7, 8, & 10 are supported. There are a number of issues to be aware of.

The USBPre2 is now the default interface for the D2 Cinema Version. The USBPre2 runs under Windows 7 (64-bit & 32-bit), both with Windows WMME (standard Windows sound drivers) and ASIO (available from Sound Devices). When using WMME drivers, you must set the sampling rate for record and playback to 48 kHz 16-bit in the Windows Sound Control panel. This is not necessary when using the ASIO drivers. If the ASIO drivers are installed, win|RTA will use them rather than the WMME drivers.

The approved MOTU devices all utilize ASIO.

The original USBPre is not supported under Windows 7 & 8 64-bit. It will work under Windows 7 & 8 32-bit using the WMME drivers (you must set the sampling rate for record and playback as mentioned above). There is a 3rd party ASIO driver that works for many to enable the USBPre under Windows 7 & 8 64-bit. It is available at http://www.usb-audio.com/download.html. There is a trial version, so be sure to try it out before buying.

If you are upgrading from an older version of win|RTA for the D2, you must install the new D2 Controller driver. The older one will not work with win|RTA V2.1 & Windows 7 & 8.

When installing the D2 Controller driver under Windows 8, you must allow non-signed drivers. Under Windows 8 & 10, a driver which is not "signed" will not be shown by Windows, unless the computer is specially booted.

For more information on this procedure do a search for "Windows unsigned drivers".
